Why GBT Is Our Technology of Choice

99.9% Effective

The Guided Biofilm Therapy method is effective at removing dental biofilm (plaque) from all surfaces in the mouth, including hard-to-reach areas. Side-by-side comparisons show GBT is even more effective than traditional cleaning methods, removing 99.9% of bacteria.

Minimally Invasive

GBT utilizes gentle and minimally invasive techniques, such as airflow technology and ultrasonic instruments, to remove biofilm and deposits without causing damage to the tooth structure. This makes it suitable for patients with sensitive teeth or gums.

Whitens & Brightens

GBT’s touchless airflow technology effectively and efficiently removes stains caused by food, beverages, and tobacco. When patients come to Smile Blanc for Guided Biofilm Therapy, they typically leave with a smile that’s 1-2 shades whiter.

Prevents Disease

GBT removes biofilm and reduces the bacterial load in the mouth. Regular hygiene appointments and at-home oral health maintenance help prevent oral and systemic diseases such as gum disease, cardiovascular disease, and bad breath.

The Experience

At Smile Blanc, we prioritize the patient experience. GBT airflow technology eliminates the need for gritty polishing paste. The ultrasonic instruments speed up the process and also apply less pressure to the teeth and gums, so the overall experience feels less like visiting the dentist and more like self-care.

Where Technology Meets Tranquillity

How Does GBT Work

Assessment

Our hygienist team begins with a visual assessment of your mouth and teeth, including any implants or restorations.

Airflow® Max

The Airflow® Max tool removes biofilm from teeth, gums, and hard-to-reach areas using a controlled jet of warm water, air, and a fine powder.

Perioflow®

The Perioflow® uses the same controlled jet of warm water, air, and PLUS powder with a special nozzle designed for deep pockets and implants.

Piezon® PS
The Piezon® PS has an ultra-thin tip design for precise cleaning and uses ultrasonic vibrations and a steady flow of warm water to remove hardened plaque.
Final Check
Following GBT, you’ll have the option for a fluoride treatment. We’ll then perform a final check before sending you home with a smile that looks and feels amazing.

“The best dental experience I’ve had!”

The best dental experience I’ve had in Calgary! Leah is incredibly kind and gentle, making my cleaning so comfortable. Hanna the receptionist was also so nice and welcoming. The clinic has great equipment, and I barely felt any discomfort during my visit. I absolutely loved my experience here and will definitely be coming back!!

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I get a cleaning?

We recommend getting your teeth cleaned every six months at a minimum. More frequent visits may be necessary if you are experiencing tooth pain and sensitivity or have concerns about your oral health.

What’s different about your cleaning method?

We use Swiss technology for teeth cleaning. Our method involves Guided Biofilm Therapy, an effective and minimally invasive solution for removing plaque and bacterial buildup in the mouth. The instruments we use are different than traditional cleaning tools, so no more gritty polish paste, cold water streams, or scaling tools that apply pressure to the teeth and gums.

What if it’s been years since my last cleaning?

No judgement here, especially if your avoidance was due in part to dental anxiety. Our cleaning methods are 99.9% effective at removing plaque and bacteria. It’s never too late to start prioritizing your oral health.
